Waiheke Island
This is another of the islands in the Hauraki Bay and on boxing day I ventured out to it. It takes about 40 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland. The island is quite big and ideally one should have a car to drive around, but I just went for the day and did not bother. There were a lot of people and unfortunately, it being boxind day and all, very few places to have a meal or a pint! It was one of the warmest days while I was in New Zealand and from that point of view i enjoyed the day out in the sunshine.
